​Director of Music Position

Grace Lutheran Church in Muscatine Iowa is looking to hire a Director of Music starting the summer of 2018. The Director of Music shall be responsible for implementing and maintaining an inspirational sacred music program that is a vital addition to the worship lifestyle of this community of faith (Grace).

Responsibilities:

• Serve as regular organist/pianist for all regularly scheduled worship services.
  
• Select music and plan worship services in coordination with Pastor.
  
• Direct and select music for the Senior Choir to provide an anthem for regularly scheduled worship services.
  
• Secure accompanist for choir, special music as needed, and for worship in time of absences.
  
• Give direction for recruitment and expansion of the music ministry at Grace.
  
• Promote and inform Worship & Music Board of current worship and music trends.
  
• Responsible to the Worship & Music Board for the music supplies portion of the general budget.
  
• Direct and select music for the Bell Choir.
  
• Recruit, rehearse, and coach song leaders for the 8:15 a.m. service.
  
• Prepare PowerPoint slides for worship used during the 8:15 and 10:45 services.
  
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
  
• Must be familiar with the preventative maintenance needs of the church’s keyboard instruments and follow through with needed maintenance as approved by the Worship & Music Board.
  
• Have a working knowledge of the sound system and be prepared to furnish soloists and ensembles with necessary equipment for performances.
  
• Catalog, update and maintain the choral music library.
