Worship Conversations

Discussion Question 3:

Faith Formation:  the process by which the Gospel transforms my life - thoughts, words, actions

Given the definition of fatih formation provided, do the worship opportunities offered by Grace form faith?  If so, how?  If not, why not?

Further prompts to get you thinking:
  • What aspects of worship are most meaningful to you?
  • What do we do differently than other churches you have attended that you appreciate?
  • What are things you found meaningful at other worship services not at Grace that you have participated in?
  • Is there a specific worship service - regular (i.e. Sunday morning) or irregular (e.g. Ash Wednesday, Blue Christmas, Lent mid-week, etc) - that you are drawn to?  What draws you to that service?
  • What aspects of worship would you miss if they were gone?  What is important to you about it that would make you miss it?
  • How does worshipping at Grace change...
    • how you think about God?
    • how you relate to other people?
    • how you approach your daily life?
  • How is what we do in worship applicable/relevant to you?

* What aspects of worship are most meaningful to you? The prayers and the scripture. Music is okay but if we were bigger, would enjoy having a small group of musicians play vs the piano or organ. More uptempo songs, but I do enjoy the traditional ones as well. While we don't often attend the later service, I do enjoy traditional hymns.
*
* What do we do differently than other churches you have attended that you appreciate? Not sure, it has been awhile since I have attended another church.

* Is there a specific worship service - regular (i.e. Sunday morning) or irregular (e.g. Ash Wednesday, Blue Christmas, Lent mid-week, etc) - that you are drawn to? What draws you to that service? I like the variety of services, doing the same thing over and over again can get a little mundane so when it come time for Lent or other special services, I enjoy that. I like the cross generational times as it gives us time to hear from one another and get involved in thinking about our faith and the world as it affects our lives, and not just sitting and listening. Kind of like we did with FINK, getting the kids more in tune with their faith and not just sitting there classroom style to absorb the information, but actually live it. I would like to see some outdoor services or even some changed to a park setting sometime in the summer, I know that is a lot of work but if we strip it down to just worry about us a Christ's children and the earth, that is all we really need.
* What aspects of worship would you miss if they were gone? What is important to you about it that would make you miss it? I am not really sure. It really isn't about the two worships or one worship, it is about making time for God to be in our lives not just on Sunday but every day. But on the other side, I like having the one special day (or two) a week where I can come and really feel the peace in our family that is Grace.
* How does worshipping at Grace change...
* how you think about God? Gets me to think about what God is (3 in one) and how he works through us.
* how you relate to other people? See my other comments above.
* how you approach your daily life? Reminds me that God's Grace is something we are given even though we don't earn or deserve it, and that is pretty darn special. It helps me recognize while there are bad things that happen, that good can come from it.
* How is what we do in worship applicable/relevant to you? Worship time helps me take time for the calm in life and time to reflect on how I can be a better person for me and for God.
